Meditation on Surrender

We are surrounded with opportunities to practice surrender. Notice the surrender that comes each time you

  • pay attention to your breath during meditation
  • open to pain or discomfort in your body
  • stop reliving a conversation...

In fact, I realized while writing/practicing this meditation, there is a moment of surrender at the end of every breath, when our bodies – without any conscious action on our part – begin to inhale.

You let go at, as Pema Chödrön says, "a very sane and loving speed, at the speed that your basic wisdom allows you to move.”
